Furniture Designer and Maker currently based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
I am a Furniture Designer and Maker. After a Bachelor’s degree in Furniture & Interior design from the National Institute of Design in India, my ambition to be able to build my own furniture led me to pursue a three-year Carpentry Apprenticeship in Mönchengladbach, Germany which I completed at the top of my class. My journey so far has led me to Amsterdam where I am in the process of setting up a business selling sustainable handmade Furniture and Home Accessories.
I work extensively with wood which is a beautifully warm and natural material. With my know-how and woodworking skills, each product thus made is just as unique as the tree that supplied the wood. I strive to perfect my designs to make them unique to their users’ needs. I design and build objects for daily use, where each decision in the design process is a balance between material, form and function. Using modern technology and machines I explore & innovate traditional woodworking methods. My products give consumers a choice to buy bespoke articles that fit into their homes with the intention to reduce their “throw away” attitude.
I aim to spread awareness about small businesses and artisans by promoting woodworking as an art. I believe in cultivating responsible methods and processes in production. While respecting wood as a resource, it is important to make conscious use of it. The importance of forest conservation is passed along to consumers through my products and work.
